At present, low white railings are in place around most of Kew Green. The Parks Department of Richmond Council have proposed that these are now extended to other parts of the Green, whilst still allowing convenient pedestrian and wheelchair access.
The public exhibition to update people about plans for the redevelopment of the Kew Retail Park, originally anticipated for mid-November 2023, has been postponed, probably untill January 2024.
The Richmond Heathrow Campaign (RHC) acts on behalf of the Kew & Richmond Societies and Friends of Richmond Green in matters relating to Heathrow, and in particular its environmental impact on community health and wellbeing. The pandemic meant Heathrow paused its expansion in the short term, but plans for a third runway have not gone away. RHC has long argued that expansion puts in jeopardy the Government’s target for reaching net zero aviation by 2050, and we continue to seek to influence the decision process to avoid expansion.
