About Kew Society

Caring for Kew since 1901

The Kew Society is a registered charity, run entirely by volunteers for the benefit of everyone who lives in, works in or visits Kew. Completely apolitical, we work on behalf of our members to influence decision-makers about issues that could have a positive or negative impact on the area.

Caring for Kew is at the heart of what we do, and the collective voice of our members has a track record of influencing important decisions that affect the lives and wellbeing of people of all ages. Our influence comes from the breadth and size of our membership, so by joining you are adding to our ability to achieve our purposes.

Our mission

We work in four key areas to:

• Improve our green spaces

• Protect our environment

Preserve our heritage by promoting high standards in planning and architecture

Connect the people in our community

Working to keep Kew a great place to be

Examples of the work we do includes actively supporting the introduction of real step free access at Kew Gardens station, and constantly monitoring planning applications so we can keep our members informed and make objections and comments where appropriate.

Our gardening team is responsible for planting and maintaining the attractive beds on and around Kew Station and other areas and we’ve also worked with Network Rail to repaint the road bridge over the railway, getting rid of the graffiti.

If you would like get volunteer to help, please get in touch.
