Henry Moore is coming (back) to Kew !
A major new exhibition of Henry Moore sculptures is coming to Kew Gardens this year. Called ‘Henry Moore Monumental Nature’ it will be the largest ever outdoor exhibition of works by Henry Moore. If you were walking round Kew Gardens in April you may have seen finishing touches being made to the sculptures as they were being installed.

Henry Moore’s long career is represented by the 30 large sculptures that are displayed throughout Kew Gardens. Some of the sculptures are clearly figurative, others more abstract but all look impressive within the natural setting of the gardens. As well as the outdoor exhibition, the Shirley Sherwood Gallery will stage an indoor exhibition of Moore’s smaller-scale works, including sculpture, drawings, models and sketchbooks.
Our Spring 2026 Newsletter contains an article about the exhibition and Kew Gardens website (click here) contains a lot more information about the exhibition, associated events and how to visit.

Kew residents with long memories will remember that this is not the first time that Kew Gardens has hosted sculptures by Henry Moore. A previous exhibition was held September 2007 to March 2008, you may even have the book that was produced for it!

In ‘Moore at Kew’, Moore is quoted as saying “Sculpture is an art of the open air. Daylight, sunlight, is necessary to it, and for me its best setting and complement is nature. I would rather have a piece of my sculpture put in a landscape, almost any landscape, than in, or on, the most beautiful building I know.”
