Garden Court, Kew

We are aware of serious concerns being voiced by Kew residents about the impending sale of Garden Court to Westminster Council. We understand that some residents of Garden Court have been served with “soon to be abolished” section 21 eviction notices by the current landlord.

There are concerns for the wellbeing of the residents being evicted who are reportedly experiencing difficulty in finding alternative housing.

It has been reported that Westminster Council intend to use Garden Court to house their homeless residents. We understand that this is unusual.

We have been in touch with Richmond Council. They have told us that Westminster is not acting illegally. Gareth Roberts has said that “all we can do is appeal to their better judgement…” We are urging the Council to seek assurances from Westminster to ensure the wellbeing of those who may be negatively impacted.

We have also raised these concerns with Sarah Olney MP.
