Community concerns rise over environmental impact of Elysian Residences Development on Melliss Avenue

The Elysian Residences development on Melliss Avenue in Kew has become a focal point for environmental discussions within the local community. Situated near the river, the project’s potential ecological impact has raised concerns among residents and environmental advocates.

The development, which received planning consent in September 2020, is set to feature 88 waterside apartments nestled within landscaped gardens. Elysian Residences, known for integrating luxury living with eco-friendly practices, has emphasised their commitment to reducing carbon footprints in their projects.

Community Concerns

Despite these assurances, some community members remain apprehensive about the project’s proximity to the river and its potential environmental ramifications. Specific concerns include the preservation of local biodiversity, water quality management, and the overall ecological balance of the area.

Elysian Residences’ Environmental Initiatives

Elysian Residences has a track record of incorporating sustainable practices in their developments. Their commitment to green living is evident in several of their properties achieving Green Globe certification. Initiatives such as installing EV charging stations, providing reusable water bottles, and partnering with green companies highlight their dedication to environmental stewardship.

Pending Response from Elysian Residences

In light of the community’s concerns, a formal inquiry has been sent to Elysian Residences seeking detailed information on the environmental assessments conducted for the Melliss Avenue development, specific sustainability practices being implemented, landscaping plans to enhance local biodiversity, and strategies for community engagement in environmental initiatives.
