Kew Sparkle fundraising gets off to a dazzling start

8 smiling Kew Society Trustees at a long table in the Tap on the Line Pub. Empty plates and wine glasses, bottles, half eaten mince pies and screwed up napkins litter the table top, suggesting a good evening was had.80 people enjoyed an evening of fun and festivities at the Kew Sparkle fundraising dinner on 6 November, hosted by the Tap on the Line pub. Everyone’s spirts were raised by a generous donation of a barrel of London Pride beer by the pub’s owner, Fuller’s, so cheers to them.

The paying guests, including Trustees from The Kew Society pictured here, rather obviously enjoying themselves……ate a delicious 3 course meal; took part in a silent auction; opened mystery presents and tried their hand at a trivia quiz with prizes and gifts donated by local businesses and supporters.

Gail’s donated mince pies to round off the evening that the staff at Tap on the Line supported with great warmth and enthusiasm.

Remarkably, this is the 18th year that the fundraising team has organised Kew Sparkle, which has become an annual event that ushers in the festive season and brings joy and cheer to the village.

Kew Sparkle returns on Friday 6 December 2024, 5-8pm, with an evening full of festive fun, supported by local schools, businesses and residents.

The event includes local craft stalls, family entertainment at the stage, funfair rides and an array of street food.

With costs for Kew Sparkle expected to run to £18,000 this year, the almost £4,000 raised at the dinner will be a welcome boost.

The Kew Society makes an annual donation to Kew Sparkle towards the Christmas Tree and lights on the Station Plaza.

We invite you to make a donation to them, of any amount to help keep the lights sparkling!
