305 Sandycombe Road (Richmond Council ref. 13/3588/FUL)
Two years after the granting of permission for change of use, the developer has finally dealt with the last of the conditions needing to be discharged before work could begin. We hope this means that work will start soon on this currently sorry looking building.
Permission was granted on 11 February 2014
We are supporting the proposed change of use of the ground floor of 305 Sandycombe Road – currently a long vacant estate agent’s premises – to a flat with rear extension and the conversion of the upper floor maisonette to 2 flats. Though this is a loss of employment space, the premises have long been empty, the building is separated from the parade of shops on the other side of North Parade and is adjacent to other residential accommodation. We think the designs are a sympathetic restoration to residential use.
Many of you will know that this site, on the corner of North Parade, previously occupied by an estate agent, has stood empty for some considerable time. An application has been made for change of use of the ground floor to create a flat. The development would include a new rear extension and the conversion of the upper floor maisonette into 2 flats. We have written to support the application. Though it does mean a loss of employment space, the premises have been empty for some time and the plans look to be a sympathetic restoration to residential use. You can see what we have said on the Council’s web site under planning applications reference 13/3588/FUL.
